Afternoon Tea & Hunt Review at Wheatland Farm

The Hunt Review at Wheatland Farm

Since colonial times, Fox hunting has been one of Virginia's oldest and most famous equestrian sports. President George Washington was an avid fox hunter credited with bringing the sport's popularity to his home at Mount Vernon in the 18th century. President Washington also did much to improve the breeding and management of foxhounds, developing his own "Virginia hounds" with the attributes needed for hunting this new American territory. Today, the tradition is alive and well in Virginia and throughout much of the United States. Wheatland Farm has been fortunate to welcome The Loudoun Hunt in years past for a hunt review, and this time, we are delighted to welcome the Goshen Hounds, their staff, and guest riders to share with us the beauty and tradition of this Sport of Kings. For further information about the sport of foxhunting, we recommend visiting the Masters of Foxhounds website: Masters Foxhounds. If you would like to learn more about the Goshen Hounds, please visit their website for more information: The Goshen Hounds.

Afternoon Tea at Wheatland Farm

Our Afternoon Tea will be outside the historic Daniel Boone Cottage at Wheatland Farm (pictured above). Built in 1769 in Kentucky and meticulously moved to and rebuilt at Wheatland Farm, this national treasure is open to the public once a year. Our afternoon tea will feature a delectable selection of teas, lavender lemonade, finger sandwiches, scones, small cakes, and more. Our VIP Reception, sponsored by Blossom & Bloom Thrift Shop, allows guests to participate in our stirrup cup featuring a fine port wine, dessert charcuterie board, exclusive meet and greet with the Goshen Hunt, and photographs with our premier event photographer.
